The QSP-200/300 Type II PCMCIA card adds 4 fully independent serial ports
to the system. Each port can be configured as RS-485 by using a 60 Ohm resistor,
or as RS-422 by connecting an 100 Ohm resistor. Any combination of RS-422 and
RS-485 ports can be used. The serial ports are implemented with 16550 UARTs providing
16-byte transmit and receive FIFOs, making the QSP-200/300 ideal for use in multi-tasking
environments.
The RS-422/485 serial ports can be configured to operate in either Full-Duplex
or Half-Duplex mode (but all ports must operate in the same mode). The default
is Full-Duplex operation with the RS-422/485 output drivers always enabled. Half
Duplex mode may be selected via software configuration. (However, under Windows
environments, only point to point communication is supported, not multi-drop networks
and half duplex options.)
The QSP-200/300's 4 serial ports must be located on an even 32-byte (20H) boundary,
and users may select on which I/O address space the card will be located (eg.
300H, 320H, 240H, etc.). Both ports can also share a single interrupt using an
interrupt status register to indicate which of the ports triggered the interrupt.
Software is included to install and configure the QSP-200/300 for use with Windows
95/98/Me/NT/2000/XP, Windows CE, Linux and OS/2. |
